Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The student attempts to address the task by comparing the current layout of Southwest Airport with the proposed future development. An overview is provided in the second paragraph, highlighting key changes such as the expansion of gates from 8 to 18 and the addition of facilities like the sky train, shops, and transport options. However, the response suffers from significant limitations in clarity and precision. The description of specific locations and features is often confused or inaccurate (e.g., stating 'now it has one gate for arrival and departures' and 'today there have eight gates and in future they will be 18 gates'). Consequently, while the main features are touched upon, the lack of accurate spatial reporting prevents the response from achieving a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The text is divided into four paragraphs, which shows an attempt at a conventional essay structure. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing, run-on sentences, and abrupt transitions. Cohesive devices are used minimally and often inaccurately (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'In precent', 'However, when we look at', 'In conclision'). Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial comparisons smoothly. Referencing between ideas and map features is sometimes ambiguous.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and heavily repetitive, with frequent word-choice and spelling errors that impede communication. Examples of non-standard usage and misspellings include 'usge diffrent' (huge difference), 'terminnal' (terminal), 'transpotstion' (transportation), 'eminity' (amenity), 'precent' (present), 'care hire' (car hire), 'Secutity' (Security), 'privice' (private/previous), 'sky trian' (sky train), 'conclision' (conclusion), 'mordern' (modern), and 'attrect' (attract). There is little evidence of a functional range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic report, with frequent reliance on informal or incorrect terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences contain serious structural errors, incorrect verb tenses, and missing auxiliary verbs (e.g., 'how it look now and it will be look after renovate', 'today there have eight gates', 'they increase the facillity', 'they planning to put'). Punctuation is also problematic, with comma splices and run-on sentences prevalent throughout the text. Simple sentences are often poorly formed, and attempts at complex structures lead to frequent grammatical breakdowns that make parts of the text quite difficult to understand.
