Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, coming in at only 107 words, which significantly impacts task completion. While the student attempts to outline the main features of the airport maps—such as the increase in gates, the introduction of a sky train, and the removal of the walkway system—the description is very brief and incomplete. Important details like the reorganisation of check-in, bag drop, and arrival facilities are mentioned very vaguely or left undeveloped. Consequently, the overview is overly simplistic, and the information is presented in a fragmented manner without adequate reporting of the spatial relationships and specific features shown in the diagrams. This corresponds to Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is organized into very short paragraphs, including a single-sentence paragraph and several fragmented sentences, which disrupt the overall logical progression. Although basic cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical repetition of sentence openings ('Southwest airport demonstrate...', 'in the west of airport...') hinders smooth reading. Paragraphing is inadequate for an academic report, resulting in a disjointed structure that lacks a cohesive flow. This performance aligns with Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several lexical and spelling errors that strain comprehension (e.g., 'illustrated' instead of 'illustrate', 'changed' instead of 'change', 'vashied' instead of 'vanished', 'rose' instead of 'rise', 'builded' instead of 'built', 'seprate' instead of 'separate'). The student attempts some less common terms like 'redevelopment' and 'facilities', but frequent errors in word choice and morphology limit the range and precision of expression. This warrants a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing relies heavily on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex structures that are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the two plans below illustrated', 'there is significant changed', 'there is increased in number'), missing articles ('in arrival side'), and capitalization errors. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after periods and incomplete capitalization of proper nouns. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5.0 level.
