Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting an overview of the airport maps but failing to report the main features accurately and comprehensively. While the student identifies some changes such as the addition of shops and cafes, several details are inaccurate or invented based on the visual data, such as claiming there will be "bus terminals in two different routes" or a "Bank" rather than an ATM. Furthermore, the number of gates is misconstrued, stating that entries and exits are increased to 18 when the current map already shows gates 1 to 8 and the future map shows gates 1 to 18. Ideas remain limited and under-developed without a clear, structured overview of the overall spatial transformation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The writing shows some basic organisation, but there is no clear overall progression or paragraphing. The entire response is squeezed into a single, dense block of text, making it difficult to follow the transition between current and future features. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and repetitively, particularly the over-use of transitional phrases like "where as" and "Moreover, They also planned", which fails to create a smooth logical flow. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when referring back to previous features without precise context.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling, such as "developement", "custom clearance", "Departue", and "amout". While the student attempts some less common vocabulary items, inaccurate phrasing and spelling slips occur throughout the text, which occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher lexical band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and repetitive clauses connected by coordinating conjunctions. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, seen in awkward constructions like "The visuals shows that..." and "where people can easily withdraw there cash". There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, plurals, incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles, which cause strain and difficulty for the reader throughout the text.
