Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response makes a minimal attempt to address the task by noting some features of the airport plans, such as the walkways, ATM machines, and departures. However, the information is presented in a very confused and tangential manner. Rather than providing a clear summary and comparison of the layout before and after development, the writing merely lists disjointed visual elements without a coherent structure. Key features of the transformation, such as the expansion of the concourse into a Y-shape with eighteen gates and the addition of the sky train, are either obscured by heavy errors or missed entirely. The overall response fails to develop a clear overview of the changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The organisation of information is extremely weak and fails to create a clear progression. Although the student attempts to separate the description into sections using transitional phrases like 'Overall' and 'On the other hand', the sentences within these sections are poorly connected and lack logical sequencing. Referencing is frequently unclear, leaving the reader confused about which part of the airport map is being described. Paragraphing is also poorly handled, with a dense block of text at the end that lumps together multiple distinct changes in the airport's layout without any logical grouping.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms such as 'side', 'area', and 'version'. There are notable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'illurstrate' for 'illustrate' and 'feactures' for 'features'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are either inaccurate or inappropriate for an academic report, such as referring to the gates as 'eight direction' or 'eighteen direction with the bases'. These lexical limitations and errors often strain the reader's comprehension and restrict the precision required for reporting visual data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple or poorly linked clause structures. Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty and tangled, leading to frequent errors in basic sentence architecture, prepositions, and word forms. For instance, phrases like 'the before developing the airport first of all two main thing' display a severe lack of control over standard grammatical patterns. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing terminal punctuation that make the text difficult to parse.
