Student answer (Band 5.0)

Present airport is good,it has all the basic equipments and areas that are essential part of an air port. But I think it is conjusted and passengers have to face rush and difficulty in the performance of their necessary tasks. The redevelopmented air port is necessary to provide a comfort to passengers. The future air port will be on large area Its infrastructure will catch the tourists as well as local people. The difference in both airports is explained below.

For example:If a passenger wants some cash to buy edibles or any thing and he has no cash. At this occasion ATM machine will be needed. But as we can see there is no machine in recent air port.So , renovated air port will help in this scenario.

One big changing will be the addition of large no. of gates in arrival and departure area.So ,maximum passengers will be able to enter and depart without wasting time in long queues.Air port security officer will not have to deal with big crowd .

One more interesting development will be the sky bus and car hire services.Thiswill enable the handicapped as well as elderly people to travel alone without any difficulty or trouble.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially and adopts an inappropriate personal tone rather than an objective academic report. Instead of presenting a formal summary of the main features and comparisons shown in the airport maps, the writer offers subjective opinions, such as 'Present airport is good' and 'I think it is conjusted'. Key visual data is described in a limited and highly anecdotal manner, such as inventing a specific scenario about an ATM machine rather than systematically reporting the physical layout changes like the extended Y-shaped concourse or the addition of gates 1 to 18. To reach higher bands, the writer must eliminate personal commentary entirely, focus purely on reporting and comparing the graphical data, and ensure all prominent spatial features of both the current and future airport layouts are properly covered.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with a brief introduction, an example paragraph, and a concluding set of observations, but the text lacks a clear overall logical progression suited to an academic report. Paragraphing is irregular, and the use of cohesive devices is inadequate and mechanical, relying heavily on informal transitions like 'For example:' followed by conversational narrative storytelling ('At this occasion ATM machine will be needed'). Referencing between sentences is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure feels disjointed. To improve, the writer needs to group related information logically—such as contrasting the terminal facilities and then the gate extensions—and use appropriate academic cohesive markers to guide the reader smoothly through the comparative analysis without relying on conversational anecdotes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, reflecting a basic range that is only minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors, such as 'conjusted', 'air port', 'redevelopmented', and 'changing', which reveal inadequate control over less common lexical items. Phrases like 'big crowd' and 'basic equipments' are overly simplistic for an academic task. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary to include precise topic-specific terminology appropriate for describing maps and architectural changes, such as 'concourse', 'terminal', 'infrastructure', and 'expansion', while paying closer attention to correct word forms and standard spelling conventions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors involving punctuation, spacing, capitalization, and articles, such as missing spaces after commas and periods ('good,it', 'So ,'), incorrect verb forms ('redevelopmented air port'), and faulty prepositions or determiners ('on large area', 'the sky bus'). These frequent errors can cause occasional difficulty and distraction for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence patterns with high accuracy, while eliminating basic mechanical and grammatical slips through careful proofreading.
