Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a rudimentary overview and attempting to describe the maps. However, the information is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence at the end of the text. The overview mentions general changes like bag drops, ATMs, and the sky train, but the body paragraphs fail to fully and accurately report the spatial layout of both the current and future airport designs. Key features such as the Y-shaped concourse expansion, the specific gate numbers (1 to 18), and the location of the car hire are entirely omitted or poorly articulated due to the abrupt ending. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to provide a fully developed description that covers all major visual changes without omissions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text displays some basic organization with an introductory statement, an overview paragraph, and initial attempts at body paragraphs. However, there is no clear overall progression of information, and the abrupt termination of the text disrupts the logical flow. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes inaccurately, such as the awkward transitional phrase 'At moment' instead of 'At present'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final section is left incomplete as a single fragmented sentence. For improvement, the writer should ensure each body paragraph is fully articulated, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive markers to link spatial relationships, and maintain a logical narrative structure from start to finish.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic terms and frequent word-choice or word-form errors. Examples include 'demostrate' instead of 'demonstrate', 'at moment' instead of 'at the moment', 'pervious' instead of 'previous', and 'bagdrop' treated as a single incorrect noun. While there are some attempts to use task-relevant vocabulary such as 'redevelopment', 'services', and 'departures', the presence of noticeable spelling and morphological errors causes some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire and ensure greater accuracy in word formation, spelling, and collocations when describing map features.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic active forms. Attempts at more complex constructions are frequently faulty, such as in the sentence 'numerous services are planned add in the airport like bagdrop...', where passive voice and prepositional patterns are misused. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and agreement, including missing articles and incorrect tense usage. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also weak, culminating in a dangling, unfinished sentence at the conclusion. To improve, the student needs to practice forming accurate complex sentences, mastering verb complementation, and eliminating recurring grammatical slips.
