Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only minimally, as it fails to provide a clear or accurate summary of the main features shown in the diagrams. Instead of selecting key spatial comparisons—such as the expansion of the concourse into a Y-shape, the addition of the sky train, or the rearrangement of check-in and security desks—the writer offers a vague and fragmented description. Expressions like 'many gates' and 'multiple changes' lack specific detail from the source material. Furthermore, the overview attempted in the second paragraph is underdeveloped and merely repeats the prompt instructions rather than synthesising the key visual trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation, with the text divided into an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the present and future layouts. However, the overall progression is weak and lacks a logical flow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as starting sentences with repetitive phrases like 'To begin with today figure' and 'On the other hand, there are many changes'. Referencing is also unclear at times, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial relationships between the airport facilities described.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, struggling to meet the demands of an academic description. Words and phrases such as 'today figure', 'arrival portion', and 'money problem' demonstrate a limited lexical range. There are noticeable errors in word choice and phrasing, such as writing 'how it look like' instead of 'how it looks', which causes some difficulty for the reader and prevents communication from being fully precise or natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence patterns. Attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to ungrammatical constructions such as 'after enter the arrival portion there is passport control customs who absorb the passengers' and 'when enter in airport then there is sky train'. Errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and clause structures are frequent throughout the response, occasionally distorting the intended meaning and requiring the reader to re-read sentences to grasp the context.
