Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad contrast between the airport now and after redevelopment, and mention several relevant changes, including the added shops, sky train, ATM and car hire. However, the response only partially reports the plans: the major expansion from 8 to 18 gates and the new Y-shaped concourse are not clearly described, and the overview that there are “many new features” is too general to summarise the main changes. Some locations are also inaccurate or unclear. For example, the current café is described as being on the right side of Departures, whereas the plan places it on the right side before security; the redevelopment’s bag drop is on the west wall, not above the café. Organise the key changes around the terminal layout and concourse expansion, and check each position against the plan.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the first paragraph introduces the comparison, and the next sections move from the current layout to the redevelopment. You also use basic sequencing expressions such as “Before the redevelopment,” “After that” and “furthermore.” However, the response has no clear, well-developed overview, and the long middle paragraph combines several locations and stages, making the progression difficult to follow. References such as “after it” and “opposite of it” do not always make clear which facility or area is meant. The final paragraph repeats the general idea that more facilities will be available rather than drawing together the main changes. Use separate paragraphs for the present and future plans, with clear location-based links and a concise overview.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “departures,” “passport control,” “customs,” “check-in,” “ATM” and “redevelopment,” so the reader can recognise several airport features. However, the range is limited and some wording is repetitive or imprecise, particularly “many new features,” “many changes” and repeated uses of “available.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “faclities” and “availale,” and unnatural expressions such as “can hire car” and “the cafe place change.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Build a more precise set of location and change phrases, such as “is situated,” “is relocated,” “is added” and “the concourse is extended,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but the range of sentence structures is limited and these attempts are often faulty. For example, “The diagram shows the plans … show the site” repeats the subject and uses an unclear verb pattern, while “when entered in the departures” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect tense construction. Articles, agreement and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “no many features are available” and “the last on the arrivals can hire car.” These errors frequently make relationships between locations and stages difficult to follow. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent present-tense descriptions for the current plan and future forms for the proposed plan. Shorter, accurately punctuated sentences would improve clarity.
