SOUTHWEST AIRPORT
Student answer (Band 5.5)
These two construction maps of an airport are providing details regarding the current development and the future plans to expand the airport in response to the given final map.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that only the two areas will remain at their place in future expansion and these are the premises for customes and airport security passport control authorities. While the main grey structure of the building will remain exactly the same, there are some additions will be added to mitigate the overall need and providing all the stuff needed for a international airports.
First of all, the recent map showed that the entry and exit points are separated with a throughout wall to avoid any manuplation and proper check and balance on both sides for any illegal activity. Moreover, the main area is held for passport security office in the departure section and the customes office in arrival one. On the other hand, area for check-in office situated on the left side near to security office and cafe is directly facing it on the far right side. Additionalky, there is walk way also provide to catch the flights.
While the future plan is expanded not only by enhancing the number of total hangers from 8 to 18 to provide convenience to the passangers, but also adding more places for providing all the amenities needed for the travelers at the airports. Like, there are soem shops areas designated to but eventually during travelling and adding ATM machine to draw the cash on arrival side. Furthermore, the number of entrance and departure gates also increased, while the area fro check-in reserved for bag drop and the check-in will get the area of cafe as in present map. There is a new area will be built for car parkingand a bus service will also be provided for customers to reach their flights in a better and professional way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation: the airport expands from 8 to 18 gates and gains additional passenger facilities. You also compare the current and future layouts, including the relocation of check-in and the addition of shops, an ATM and car hire. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the security and passport-control areas are not both described as remaining unchanged, and the future plan shows a sky train rather than a bus service. “Car parking” is also not shown; the new area is for car hire. The overview would be stronger if it clearly highlighted the Y-shaped concourse extension and the main changes to the terminal, while avoiding unsupported explanations about security and convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by descriptions of the current and future layouts. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “First of all,” and “On the other hand” help signal progression. However, some connections are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately; for example, “On the other hand” introduces another feature of the current map rather than a contrast. The long final paragraph combines the gate expansion, shops, ATM, check-in changes and invented transport details, making the sequence harder to follow. Organise the comparison by area or by major change, and use clearer references to distinguish the present plan from the redevelopment.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “passport control,” “check-in,” “gates,” “ATM” and “car hire,” and you attempt more formal phrasing such as “designated” and “expanded.” However, inaccurate word choice and collocation sometimes make the description unclear. “Hangers” should be “gates,” “customes” should be “customs,” and “shops areas designated to but” does not clearly describe shops for passengers. There are also spelling errors such as “manuplation,” “passangers” and “Additionalky.” Prefer precise map vocabulary and straightforward collocations, such as “the concourse was extended” and “shops were added.” Proofreading spelling would make your meaning more reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including complex comparisons with “while” and “not only…but also,” but control is inconsistent. For example, “there are some additions will be added” combines two verb structures incorrectly, and “the area for check-in office situated” is missing a finite verb and article. In “the number of entrance and departure gates also increased,” the verb form is incomplete, while “a international airports” has an article and number mismatch. These errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow, especially in the longer sentences. Build accuracy with complete subject–verb clauses, consistent future forms for planned changes, and careful checking of articles and singular/plural agreement.
