Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main change in broad terms: the airport expands from eight gates to eighteen and gains a sky train. You also note that departures and arrivals remain in the same general areas. However, the response only partially covers the plans, and several details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, security and passport control are not on the left in both plans, and the new car-hire area is described as a “parking site.” Important changes such as the Y-shaped concourse, shops, bag drop, and relocated check-in are omitted or confused. The overview is also vague (“expanded more”), and the response is five words below the required minimum. To improve, give a clear overview and accurately compare the main changes in the terminal and concourse.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: you begin with an introduction and overview, then compare the gate numbers and mention facilities and the unchanged arrangement of departures and arrivals. Linking words such as “Overall,” “While,” and “In addition” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response has no clear paragraph progression, and several points are crowded into long sentences, making comparisons difficult to follow. For instance, the sentence beginning “Both maps has security…” combines control areas, check-in, shops, customs, and customer services without clearly separating the information. Some connections are also unclear, particularly “The southwest airport have more facilities compar to now airport.” Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key changes, and group details by area.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “gates,” “redevelopment,” “passport control,” “customs,” and “ATM,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “illustartes,” “walkaway,” “checking area,” and “customer srvices”; “parking site” is also an inaccurate description of the car-hire facility. Repetition of “airport,” “side,” and “also” limits precision. Aim to use accurate map vocabulary and collocations, such as “concourse,” “terminal,” “is located,” and “is added,” while checking spelling and choosing terms that match the features shown.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer structures, including “from which…” and a contrast introduced by “While,” but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “The two map illustrates,” “Both maps has,” and “The southwest airport have” need plural or singular forms to match their subjects. Articles and plurals are also often missing, as in “18 gate” and “after the redevelopment.” Some sentence boundaries and punctuation are unclear, especially in the long sentence listing control areas and facilities. These errors sometimes make relationships between features hard to follow. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using controlled clauses and consistent present and future forms.
