Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main change—the concourse becoming Y-shaped and gaining a sky train—and mention several new facilities, including shops, bag drop, cafés, an ATM and car hire. These details show a relevant understanding of the redevelopment. However, the overview is difficult to interpret (“a set undergo significant redevelopment”) and does not clearly summarise the most important contrasts, such as the increase from 8 to 18 gates and the expansion of the concourse. Some current features are also misplaced: security and passport control are described as being in the west, whereas the plan places them at the upper end of Departures and Arrivals respectively. Clarify the overview and report the main spatial changes accurately and selectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about the current airport and one about the future plan. This gives the reader a basic route through the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the overview and the description of the current layout. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “On account of” are used mechanically or do not express the relationship between ideas clearly. Some references, including “the corner” and “last side corner,” are also unclear. Group information by area and use straightforward links such as “In the current plan” and “After redevelopment” to make the sequence easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “redevelopment,” “Y-shaped,” “Bag drop,” and “car hire,” and you attempt to describe location with terms such as “west,” “east,” and “upper side.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations make the meaning hard to understand. For example, “a set undergo significant redevelopment” and “enhance upgraded the view” do not communicate the intended overview naturally; “opposite to west on east” is also imprecise. Spelling errors such as “oppposite,” “rioght,” and “od” further reduce clarity. Build a reliable set of location phrases and practise using accurate collocations for changes and facilities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the current and future plans and clauses beginning with “which.” However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, or sentence construction, and these sometimes make the relationships between features difficult to understand. For instance, “the Southwest Airport now are simple layout” has incorrect agreement and is missing a clear grammatical structure, while “several transformation had done” uses an incorrect plural and verb form. The sentence beginning “Moreover, for future plan remove…” also lacks a clear subject and correctly formed verb. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add clauses such as “where” or “which” to describe locations and changes.
