Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main changes, including the larger gate area, new shops, relocated check-in, added bag drop, and new facilities in arrivals. The overview also recognises that the airport expands and that some features remain in place. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: the sky train was added, not replaced by the walkway, and the walkway is not described as being replaced. The exits are not shown as increasing, so the claim that this will reduce queues is unsupported. Some locations are also imprecise: the shops are beside the concourse stem, rather than simply in the north-west corner. More precise comparisons of the old and new layouts would make the account more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overall statement, and details about the redevelopment. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking at the figures more closely,” and “In addition” help signal the stages of the description. However, the details move between the concourse, departures, and arrivals without a consistent route, and several changes are compressed into one sentence. For example, the sentence beginning “Cafe was relocated” combines multiple departure-area changes without clearly distinguishing what moved from what was added. Organise the body by area or by comparing the current and future plans, and use clearer references to guide the reader through each location.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing airport facilities, including “redevelopment,” “relocated,” “constructed,” and “remain unchanged.” This gives you a useful range for the task, although some choices are imprecise or unnatural. “Sky train was replaced by walkway” misidentifies the change, while “exits were increase” appears to refer to entrances or passenger capacity, neither of which is shown. There are also spelling errors such as “diaghram,” “numer,” “refrehment,” and “que,” and phrases such as “long que” are informal. Aim for accurate map vocabulary and check spelling; terms such as “concourse,” “gate capacity,” and “facilities” can help describe the changes precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in “while some was relocated and remain unchanged” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “some was relocated and remain unchanged” has problems with agreement and parallel verb forms; “Arrivals and departures exits were increase” has an incorrect passive form; and “Cafe was relocated” needs an article. Tense use is also inconsistent when describing the future plan, as in “are constructed,” alongside past forms. Practise accurate passive constructions and keep the future plan consistently in the appropriate tense.
