Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main contrast between the current airport and its planned redevelopment, including the expanded gate area, the sky train, shops, bag drop, and new arrivals facilities. The overview also recognises that the airport will undergo substantial change. Most details are relevant, but some are imprecise: the walkway is not simply removed, as the new concourse has a sky train along its central stem, and the shops are beside the concourse rather than clearly at its north-west corner. The description of the café and check-in as moving to their “opposite” sides is also unclear. To strengthen the response, describe the Y-shaped concourse and the increase from eight to eighteen gates explicitly, and distinguish the changes in Departures from those in Arrivals more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the northern and southern areas. This gives the reader a useful route through the maps, and linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “Similarly,” and “Finally” help connect points. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Along this” does not clearly show how the shops relate to the sky train, while “their opposite site” makes the café and check-in changes difficult to follow. The final sentence repeats the general idea of improvement rather than adding a specific comparison. For stronger progression, organise details by terminal area and use precise references such as “in Departures” and “in Arrivals” to make relationships between features unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing changes, including “transformation,” “expansion,” “introduced,” and “amenities.” These choices show an attempt to use more formal and varied language, and the main meaning is generally clear. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however: “car hireing area,” “north-western walkway,” “shiftiting … to their opposite site,” and “advanced version” do not describe the plan naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “expantion,” “coonect,” and “Morever.” Prefer precise map language such as “the concourse is extended,” “the café is relocated,” and “a car-hire facility is added.” Careful proofreading would improve accuracy while retaining your range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and longer sentences describing several changes. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “the plain underwent” uses an incorrect subject, “the second one portrays” is missing an article, and “the south-western and south-eastern parts undergoes” has subject–verb disagreement. The phrase “in upcoming year” also needs an article, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. These errors do not usually prevent the reader from understanding the map, but they limit control of the structures you attempt. Check articles, agreement, and tense consistency, and divide sentences that combine several locations or changes.
