Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the increase from 8 to 18 gates, the addition of a sky train, shops, an ATM, a second café and car hire. These details show a reasonable understanding of the plans. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the redevelopment as a whole, and it focuses mainly on added facilities rather than comparing the airport’s layout. Some information is inaccurate: you mention “car parking,” whereas the plan shows car hire, and the ATM is below the café, not “at front” of it. The changes to the concourse’s Y-shape and the relocated check-in area are also omitted. A concise overview and more precise comparisons would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response stays broadly on the airport changes, and phrases such as “In the previous building” and “In the new building” help signal comparisons. However, the ideas are presented as one continuous paragraph, with no clear overview or grouping of related changes. The repeated openings “In the new building” and “In the previous building” make the progression mechanical, while several details appear in a list-like sequence rather than in a planned order. Some links between ideas are also unclear, for example the sentence about the bag drop moves abruptly into how luggage is checked and loaded. Organise the response into an overview followed by grouped details, such as terminal changes and concourse changes, and use clearer referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant airport vocabulary, including “gates,” “sky train,” “bag drop,” “ATM” and “cafe,” so the reader can identify many of the features being described. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “car parking” for car hire and “old arcitecture.” Repeated use of “new building,” “facility” and “passengers” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors such as “bulding,” “beg” and “airoplane” are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim to use accurate plan terminology and vary verbs for changes, for example “relocated,” “added” and “extended.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but control is inconsistent and the sentence patterns are mostly simple or joined with basic linking. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in examples such as “there has only cafe,” “there are also made one more cafe” and “number of the gates had 8.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic: “a new facilities” and “In previous building” need different article forms, and the opening runs words together after “First of all,”. These errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. Practise accurate past-versus-present descriptions and use a few controlled complex structures, such as “While the current terminal has…, the redeveloped airport will…”.
