Student answer (Band 5.0)

The plans showes the development of a airport.First figure shows the plans development for recent time and second figure shows the plans development after a year.So there we see maney chenges in the second plan. Second plan is very different to first one.in first plan if we talk about secuirty passport control there is only one departure. But in second plan if we see for security passport control there we fond two departures. so these two departure are proving the saftey of second plan. Now if we move towards passport control customs there is only one arrival but in second plan there are two arrivals. So second plan ensuring its facilities which are highly effectively. After development there is also another change like mens are replaced by machinery. we also fond another change in different items likr check in,cofe, walkway and gates. In second plan these items are added by bag drop, ATM, sky train and car hire.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify that the airport changes after redevelopment and mention several relevant features, including the new bag drop, ATM, sky train and car hire. However, the main changes are not reported accurately: the plans show one departures area and one arrivals area in both versions, not “two departures” or “two arrivals.” The key development is the expansion from a straight concourse with 8 gates to a Y-shaped concourse with 18 gates, but this is not explained. The overview is also unclear, and claims that the changes prove greater safety or ensure effective facilities are unsupported. To improve, give a clear overview of the major structural changes, then describe the terminal and concourse features precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response follows a basic sequence, moving from the first plan to the second and using transitions such as “Now if we move towards” and “After development.” This gives the reader some sense of comparison. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and the repeated “first plan” and “second plan” references do not create a clear progression. Several links are difficult to follow, particularly the shift from security to arrivals and then to “men” being replaced by machinery. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs grouping changes to the concourse and terminal. Use clear references such as “the existing terminal” and “the redeveloped layout” to reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “passport control,” “check in,” “walkway,” “gates,” “bag drop,” “ATM” and “car hire.” This shows some awareness of the map’s labels. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning unclear, such as “mens are replaced by machinery,” which does not accurately describe the sky train, and “two departures,” which confuses an area with a facility. Errors such as “chenges,” “fond” and “cofe” are noticeable. Use precise location and change vocabulary, for example “the concourse is extended,” “is relocated,” and “is added,” and check spelling of key labels before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You make attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, using forms such as “if we talk about” and “if we move towards,” but most sentence patterns are simple or repetitive, and the longer constructions are often difficult to control. Errors include “The plans showes,” “a airport,” and “there is only one arrival but in second plan there are two arrivals,” where verb agreement, articles and sentence structure are problematic. Missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent punctuation also interrupt reading. Practise accurate present-simple descriptions of maps, such as “The current terminal has one arrivals area,” and use past or future forms only when the task requires them. Short, correctly punctuated sentences would make comparisons clearer.
