Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation: the gate capacity increases from eight to eighteen, the concourse becomes Y-shaped, and new facilities are added. You also note that the café moves and that bag drop is introduced in departures. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the shops are placed beside the concourse, not next to passport control, and the walkway is not simply converted into the sky train; the train runs along the central stem of the expanded concourse. The overview also refers to an “entrance and exit gate” being added and “parking” in arrivals, which misrepresents the plan: these are not new terminal gates or a car park. Covering the key changes more precisely would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to departures and then arrivals, so the reader can follow the broad comparison. Paragraphing helps separate the main points. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, however: “Begin with” and “At the arrival gate” do not clearly signal the areas being described, while the long final sentence combines the walkway, train, gates and shape without a clear sequence. References such as “the present area” and “the area of walkway” are also imprecise. Organise each paragraph around a clear location and describe its changes in a consistent order, using straightforward links such as “In departures” and “In the arrivals area”.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “departures,” “arrivals,” “passport control,” “ATM,” and “Y-shape,” and you attempt terms such as “relocated” and “modified.” However, several word choices or collocations make the description unclear: “parking” is used for aircraft gates or car hire, “entrance and exit gate” does not describe the redevelopment, and “the shape of the gate” is not the intended meaning. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “facitlities” and “addtional,” and “coffee shop” is less consistent than the map’s “café.” Use precise labels from the plan and practise collocations such as “the concourse is extended” and “the number of gates increases.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including future constructions and relative clauses, but errors in sentence structure and verb forms frequently make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “will be add on” needs a passive form such as “will be added,” while “there will be many facilities will be introduce” contains two competing verb structures and an incorrect participle. “The present area of cafe will be check-in” also needs a clearer subject and passive construction. Articles and agreement are inconsistent, as in “the custom office” and “the various facilities will be making.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check that each clause has one correctly formed verb and that singular and plural forms agree.
