Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad topic and mention several genuine additions, including shops, a café, bag drop, an ATM, the sky train, car hire and more gates. However, the response does not clearly summarise the main spatial changes: for example, the concourse becomes Y-shaped, the gates increase from 8 to 18, and check-in moves while bag drop is added. Some statements are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying gates have “decreased” and that the airport’s new features are “lowest.” The final comments about opportunities and what is “best” are opinions rather than a factual comparison. The response is also one word below the 150-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are excluded from the count. Develop a clear overview and report specific, accurate changes in location and capacity.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic sequencing markers such as “first” and “secondly,” so there is an attempt to organise the information. However, the progression is difficult to follow: the opening overview is unclear, the second paragraph mixes facilities with general claims, and the final paragraph repeats that the redevelopment offers more features without adding a clear comparison. Connections between ideas are often weak, and phrases such as “in both sides now and after the renovation” do not make the relationship between the two plans clear. Organise the response around an overview followed by the current layout and then the main changes, using precise references such as “in the departures area” and “along the extended concourse.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “departures,” “arrivals,” “cafe,” “shops,” “bag drop,” “ATM” and “gates.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the airport facilities being discussed. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms make the meaning unclear, such as “features recorder lowest,” “gates increasing gradually,” and “many opportunities available.” Spelling errors, including “annd,” “avaiable” and “camparisons,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise map language and avoid vague evaluations: describe what is added, moved, extended or replaced, and use location phrases to show where each feature is situated.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer sentences and uses simple sequencing, but sentence structures are mostly limited and frequent errors make several statements hard to interpret. For example, “Overall, the southwest airport after development its features” lacks a clear verb structure, while “new cafe add in” and “departures and arrivals area are also very norrow” show problems with verb forms and agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the site of an airport now annd how it will look.” Use complete subject–verb sentences, check singular and plural agreement, and separate each main point with clear punctuation. Practising accurate simple sentences before adding complex clauses will improve clarity.
