Student answer (Band 5.5)

The plans illustrate the structure of an airport In present and after redesign in future.

overall new structure looks better then current due to its wide range of area and viraity of places as well as things.

The current structure has eight gates that will be increased in new ones and become 18.chech in and cafe will remains same in both of the structure .But new things will be increaced around it like bag drop in redesigned structure.

One thing that will be removed in future design is walkway. It will not be seen in new ones.Although it will have viraity of things compared to old ones like,ATM,Car hire,Sky train. One thing that would ne same in both design is arrivals and departures.

In conclusion new design will be more beneficial for individuals due to viraity of things and wide area and range.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main expansion from eight gates to eighteen and mention several additions, including the sky train, ATM and car hire. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it gives little precise information about where facilities are located or how the terminal layout changes, such as the concourse becoming Y-shaped and check-in moving to the inner wall. The claim that check-in and the café “will remains same” is inaccurate: check-in changes position, and the café is relocated in departures while another is added in arrivals. The overview that the new design is “better” and “more beneficial” is evaluative rather than a clear summary of the main physical changes. The response is also 9 words below the required minimum. Add accurate location comparisons and a concise overview of the major redevelopment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to comparisons and a conclusion. It also uses a few linking expressions, such as “Although” and “In conclusion,” to signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is limited: the middle paragraphs list features without a clear order based on the two plans or areas of the airport, and the conclusion repeats the general claim that the new design is better rather than synthesising the changes. Some connections are unclear, particularly “Although it will have viraity of things compared to old ones,” where the contrast is not smoothly expressed. Organise the report around the current layout and the planned changes, and use clear references to departures, arrivals and the concourse to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “gates,” “walkway,” “bag drop,” “ATM” and “car hire,” so the reader can recognise several features of the plans. However, the range is limited and key descriptions are often vague: “things,” “places,” “wide range of area” and “new structure” do not precisely describe airport facilities or layout changes. Repeated use of “viraity” also makes the wording less clear, and spelling errors such as “chech” and “then” reduce accuracy. Some expressions are not natural for this task, including “structure looks better” and “will be increaced around it.” Build a more precise set of map terms, such as “terminal,” “concourse,” “relocated” and “extended,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast beginning “Although,” and most of the intended meaning can be followed. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence construction, verb forms, agreement and punctuation. For example, “The plans illustrate the structure of an airport In present” has an incorrect preposition and capitalisation, while “check in and cafe will remains same” has problems with verb form, articles and agreement. The sentence “One thing that would ne same” also contains an incorrect verb form, and several sentences run together without spaces after full stops. Practise accurate present-versus-future forms and articles, and use shorter, correctly punctuated sentences before attempting more complex comparisons.
