Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main transformation and provide a clear overview: the airport gains facilities and expands from eight gates to eighteen in a Y-shaped concourse. You also report several relevant changes, including the sky train, shops, car hire, and the added café and ATM in Arrivals. This meets the task well, though some details are unclear or inaccurate. For example, “the entrances will be two for each side” is not supported by the plan, and the check-in counter is moved to the inner wall beside Arrivals, not “the left side of departures.” The claim that bag drop replaces check-in is also misleading, as both are shown after redevelopment. More precise descriptions of these locations would make the account more complete and accurate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable progression: an opening overview is followed by changes to the terminal facilities and then the gates. This helps the reader understand the broad comparison. However, the information is crowded into two long body sections, and several ideas run together, as in “furthermore, cafe will be in arrivals also passengers will be able to hire a car.” Linking words such as “also,” “while,” and “in addition” are used, but connections are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The final phrase, “while the rest will remain unchanged,” does not specify which features are unchanged. Use separate paragraphs for the terminal and concourse, and connect each comparison clearly to the relevant area.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “redevelopment,” “gates,” “walkway,” “introduced,” and “Y form,” so the main changes are generally understandable. There is some range in the facilities named, but word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and occasionally make the description less precise. Examples include “airpot,” “inculiding,” “facilites,” and “uncanged.” Some phrases are also awkward or imprecise: “the location of gates will be changed” could describe the expansion more specifically, while “hire a car in arrival side” is not a natural collocation. Aim for accurate map vocabulary and check spelling; precise terms such as “concourse,” “relocated,” and “car-hire facility” would help.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and clauses describing what will happen after redevelopment. However, the range is limited by frequent errors in sentence formation, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. For example, “its redevelopment that how will it look” is not a well-formed clause, and “southwest airpot wil under go substantial changes” lacks correct verb spelling and sentence punctuation. In “the entrances will be two for each side,” the structure is also awkward. Long sentences joined with commas make grammatical relationships difficult to follow. Practise forming clear future-tense sentences, such as “The concourse will be extended to accommodate 18 gates,” and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
