Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the broad comparison between the current airport and its planned redevelopment, and correctly note that Departures and Arrivals remain in the same general areas. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no developed account of the terminal changes, and the overview is unclear. The concourse is not simply converted into “two different roads”; it becomes a Y-shaped structure with gates increasing from 8 to 18, and a sky train runs along its central stem. You also mention new facilities but omit important changes such as shops, bag drop, and the relocated check-in counter. The response is 85 words, below the required 150. Describe the main structural changes and key additions in a fuller summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction and then moving to a brief overview of changes. The contrast between “At a glance” and “After the development” gives the reader some sense of comparison. However, the response is very short and does not develop a clear progression from an overview to specific details. The second paragraph combines several ideas in one sequence, with transitions such as “but” and “while” used awkwardly, and the full stop after “that” interrupts the sentence. Organise the report into clear paragraphs: introduce the plans, summarise the main changes, then describe the terminal and concourse features in a logical order.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “walkway,” “gates,” “sky train,” “arrivals,” “car hire,” and “ATM,” so the reader can identify several features being compared. However, the range is limited, and some word choices or forms make the description difficult to interpret. For example, “two different roads” is not an accurate way to describe the Y-shaped concourse, while “the station of sky train” is an awkward phrase for the train route. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “differents,” “ramain,” and “sation.” Use precise map language such as “concourse,” “arm,” “terminal,” and “is located,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and linked sentences, including “while the Departures and Arrivals remain at the same place,” but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors sometimes obscure meaning. The opening, “what the look after the construction in next year,” has an incomplete and awkward structure. In “At a glance, it reveals that. at the present two walkway and 8 gates,” the punctuation and sentence construction are faulty, and the plural noun lacks a clear verb. Tense and agreement are also unreliable in “the walkway convert” and “a arrivals place.” Practise accurate present and future forms, articles, and complete sentences. A clearer pattern would be: “The concourse will be extended, and the number of gates will rise to 18.”
