Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main change in capacity, noting that the airport expands from 8 gates to 18, and you attempt to compare the current and future layouts. However, the response only partially covers the plans: several important changes are omitted, including the Y-shaped concourse, the sky train’s position, the relocated check-in, and the new ATM and car-hire area. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying the current arrivals area was “empty” and that gates were doubled in departures. The overview also does not clearly summarise the main spatial changes. The response is 145 words, below the required 150, so it needs a little more relevant detail as well as more accurate coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the current and future airport. This gives the reader some sense of comparison. However, progression is limited: the overview repeats the gate increase without clearly grouping the other changes, and several ideas are joined awkwardly, as in “Inside the security passport control and passport control customs many things are added.” The final paragraph ends abruptly, which leaves the future layout incomplete. Organise the details by area—for example, concourse, departures, then arrivals—and use clear linking phrases such as “In the current layout” and “After redevelopment” to make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “gates,” “walkway,” “sky train,” “shops,” and “bag drop,” so the reader can recognise several airport features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the description difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “double number of gates are added then before,” “one individual gate,” and “many things good removed” are not natural or precise. There are also spelling errors in words such as “depatures” and “contol.” Aim to use accurate location and change vocabulary, such as “concourse,” “relocated,” “extended,” and “adjacent to,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple structures, and there are attempts at more complex descriptions, but frequent errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “Overall, double number of gates are added then before” has problems with articles, agreement, and comparison structure; “there were 8 numbers of gate” also has incorrect number and noun forms. Tense and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “Recently, The SOUTHWEST AIRPORT looks” and the fragment “Inside the security passport control bag drop is new zone added.” Use past tense for the current plan and future forms for the redevelopment, and build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb. Careful proofreading of articles, plurals, and punctuation would improve clarity.
