Student answer (Band 5.0)

As of now airport look pretty much smaller with some limited facilities and after development it looks like they are expanding it more with more facilities in the airpot with some more gates for the departure and arrivals now it has only one gate for the deoarture and arrivals also planning to provide with some AM and car hire facilities to the visitors and also walkthorugh after security and passoprt control is also expanding in future, Also they are giviNG ATM facilities indoor aswell in the airpot so overall look like great expanding for the visitors with some good coming facilities as they planning to provide multiple coffee shops as rightnow there is only one coffe shop available inside visitors should have choice to choose their favorite coffee brand also they are planning to add shops for snacks and food as rightnow there is no shop available inside. Look like a great infrastrucutre coming soon as compared now.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from a smaller airport to a larger one, and mention several relevant additions, including more gates, shops, an ATM and car hire. However, the account is only partly accurate and does not clearly summarise the main changes shown. The current airport has gates 1–8, not “only one gate,” and the redevelopment expands this to 18. You also suggest that departure and arrival facilities are both being expanded, but do not explain the key layout changes: the concourse becomes Y-shaped, a sky train is added, and check-in moves. Some details, such as multiple coffee shops and snack or food shops, are not supported by the plan. Focus on the major spatial changes and compare the two stages precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response stays broadly on the airport redevelopment and includes a general opening and closing idea, so the reader can recognise the topic. However, nearly all the information is placed in one long sentence-like sequence, with no clear paragraphing or progression from overview to specific changes. Repeated links such as “also” and “as rightnow” make the writing feel list-like, while the repeated comments about facilities and visitors do not help organise the comparison. Group the information into a brief overview followed by separate descriptions of the terminal and concourse changes. Use clear connectors such as “In contrast,” “Meanwhile,” and “In addition,” and make sure each sentence develops one main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “gates,” “ATM,” “car hire,” “shops” and “security,” which helps convey the general subject. However, the range is limited and several informal or inaccurate expressions reduce precision, such as “look pretty much smaller,” “great expanding,” and “coffee brand.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “airpot,” “deoarture,” “walkthorugh” and “passoprt,” which can slow the reader. For a map description, choose neutral, precise terms for locations and changes rather than opinions about whether the development is “great.” Practise spelling the key airport labels and use verbs such as “relocate,” “extend” and “add” to describe the plan accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect several ideas using “and,” “also” and “as,” but it relies heavily on one extended run-on construction, so sentence boundaries and relationships between ideas are unclear. Basic sentence patterns are not consistently controlled: “airport look” lacks an appropriate subject and verb form, while “they are expanding it more” and “they planning to provide” show problems with verb construction. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “one gate for the departure and arrivals.” Capitalisation and punctuation are unreliable, particularly in “Also they are giviNG.” Use shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense, articles and punctuation when describing what exists now versus what is planned.
