Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify that the airport will change and mention several relevant features, including the relocation of the café and the addition of bag drop, an ATM and car hire. However, the response addresses the plans only minimally: it ends mid-sentence (“it wi”) and does not give a complete account of the redevelopment. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying the check-in is on the “north sides”; the current plan places it on the west wall, and the future plan moves it to the inner wall beside Arrivals. The overview also says check-in and café will be “replaced,” rather than relocated. The response is 55 words below the required minimum. To improve, provide a clear overview and compare the expanded Y-shaped concourse and increase from 8 to 18 gates, alongside the terminal changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening statement is followed by an overview and then descriptions of the current and future layouts. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the comparison between the two plans is not sustained, and the final sentence is incomplete. Phrases such as “In the present map” and “In the courrent layout” do not clearly distinguish which features belong to the current plan and which belong to the redevelopment. The linking word “Similarly” introduces a related change, but the relationship between the details remains unclear. Use separate paragraphs for the overview, current layout and planned changes, and connect each feature explicitly to its stage or location.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “redevelopment,” “layout,” “relocated,” “bag drop,” “ATM” and “car hire,” so the reader can recognise the topic and several changes. However, the range is limited, and some word choices are inaccurate or imprecise: “replaced” does not describe features that are moved, while “the passport control customs is empty” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “ilustrate,” “relocted” and “courrent” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of terms for describing locations and changes, such as “on the west wall,” “adjacent to Arrivals,” “extended” and “added.” Check spelling and choose verbs that match the map evidence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few different sentence forms, including “It is clear that…” and a sentence beginning “In the present map,” but control is inconsistent and the range remains limited. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction make several statements difficult to interpret. For example, “the check in on the north sides have relocted” lacks a clear, correctly formed verb phrase, and “the bag drop has added” needs a passive construction such as “the bag-drop area has been added.” The opening also shifts awkwardly between future and present (“will ilustrate” and “will change”). The final clause, “it wi,” is unfinished. Practise complete comparisons using accurate past, present and future forms, and proofread each sentence for a subject, verb and finished thought.
