Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from the current airport to a larger redeveloped layout, and include relevant features such as the existing eight gates, new shops, bag drop, café and ATM. However, the overview is general rather than highlighting the main transformation: the concourse becomes Y-shaped and expands from 8 to 18 gates, with a central sky train. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, check-in is not replaced by bag drop; it moves to the inner wall, while bag drop is added on the west wall. The café is relocated within Departures, and the new café and ATM are in Arrivals. The description of the current security and passport-control areas is also confusing. Select the major changes and describe their locations more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the present and future layouts. This gives the reader a basic progression through the plans. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Turning to details,” and “Moving further” help signal stages, although some transitions feel mechanical and the final paragraph combines several changes without a clear order. References such as “these,” “second side,” and “the square size area” are not always clear, making it difficult to identify which part of the airport is being described. Organise each body paragraph by area—for example, Departures, Arrivals, then the concourse—and use precise location references to make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant airport vocabulary, including “departure,” “arrival,” “gates,” “passport control,” “customs,” “shops,” and “bag drop,” so the topic is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to describe change with phrases such as “will be constructed” and “will be opened.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “how looks at present,” “the bottom of the south,” “in the north site,” and “cafe will be taken place” do not express the intended locations or changes naturally. Spelling and word formation also need attention, as in “Turing” and “reconstructed.” Build a more precise set of phrases for map descriptions, such as “in the southern part,” “is relocated to,” and “is added beside,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, and the response uses future forms to describe the planned redevelopment. However, errors are frequent enough to make some relationships and changes difficult to understand. Examples include “how looks at present,” “there is expected to added,” and “departure and arrival would remain same,” which show problems with clause structure, verb forms, and articles. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “in the north .in the square size area,” while several phrases lack necessary determiners or prepositions. Practise forming clear comparison sentences with a subject and finite verb, such as “The concourse will be extended” and “Check-in will move to the wall beside Arrivals.” More accurate basic structures will make your descriptions clearer.
