Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the purpose of the trip, a request for recommendations, and an invitation. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The purpose is mentioned, but the explanation lacks detail. The invitation is present but lacks specific logistical details that would make the letter more natural. Because the response is 24 words short of the requirement, the task is only partially fulfilled, leading to a lower score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into a basic structure, but the lack of paragraphing makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly; sentences are often disjointed. For example, the transition between the purpose of the trip and the invitation is abrupt. The use of punctuation is inconsistent, and the flow of the letter is hindered by these structural issues. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each section of the letter and incorporate linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'natural attractions' and 'well-known city' are used, but there is little variety or attempt to use more sophisticated language. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'Canada is a well-known city' (Canada is a country, not a city) and 'spent lot of time' (should be 'spend a lot of time'). Spelling errors like 'becuase' and 'forword' also detract from the quality of the writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more descriptive adjectives and precise nouns would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('see this match', 'missing about college time'), incorrect verb forms ('we will both can spent'), and capitalization issues (e.g., 'i', 'canada', 'fifaworld cup'). These errors are frequent and occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and attempting more complex sentence structures with accurate punctuation. Currently, the high frequency of errors impacts the overall readability of the letter.
