Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining the purpose of the trip, asking for recommendations, and inviting your friend to meet. The tone is appropriately informal for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the business trip, the explanation is slightly disjointed, and the invitation is a bit repetitive. To improve, ensure that your sentences flow logically from one point to the next and provide slightly more detail to fully flesh out your ideas, which would help you move into a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'Apart from this' does not fit well with the following sentence about spending time together. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack clear connections, such as the opening paragraph which feels rushed. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would significantly improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'business trip', 'sightseeing', and 'social media'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'my company send me over your hometown' (should be 'is sending me to') and 'my meeting finish' (should be 'meetings finish'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your word forms are correct. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives to enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('my meeting finish'), tense inconsistencies ('my company send me'), and missing articles or prepositions ('I am coming your place'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around punctuation marks and the use of commas. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
