Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter covers all three bullet points: the purpose of the trip, a request for sightseeing suggestions, and an invitation to meet. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. While the purpose is clear, the request for sightseeing and the invitation are somewhat repetitive and lack specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your plans and provide more context for your request, ensuring you meet the length requirement to fully develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally coherent, and the paragraphing is attempted, though the structure is somewhat fragmented. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However', but they are occasionally used incorrectly or feel mechanical. The progression of ideas is logical, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus to help the reader follow your train of thought more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat basic and repetitive. You use phrases like 'exciting thing' and 'bunch of my colleagues', which are informal but lack precision. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'south asian cuisines' (should be capitalized) and 'cheapest electronics market'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure correct collocations, such as using 'culinary experiences' instead of 'cuisines' or 'local markets' instead of 'electronics market'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar. For example, there are missing articles ('in Raddison hotel', 'in Delhi'), inconsistent capitalization, and awkward phrasing like 'planning to stay in Raddison hotel just near to your home'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall flow. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, such as article usage and sentence punctuation, will help improve your score.
