Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: the purpose of the trip (business meetings), a request for sightseeing recommendations, and an invitation to spend time together. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the mention of the 'birthday week' is a bit abrupt and lacks context. While the task requirements are met, the development of the ideas could be more cohesive to ensure the reader fully understands the connection between the business trip and the social plans.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of the message. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, 'Another request about helping me' is a bit awkward as a transition. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'I imagined something for you as it’s your birthday week,' where the connection to the previous sentence is weak. Overall, the structure is clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved with more natural linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors or non-standard collocations, such as 'interested things' instead of 'interesting things,' 'sight seen' instead of 'sights,' and 'good bonds' instead of 'bonding time.' While the meaning is generally clear, these errors indicate a limited range of vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles ('as it would be first time for to have trip of United State'), incorrect pronoun usage ('where u have' instead of 'where I have'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('I am writing these letter'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on basic grammar rules, particularly articles and pluralization, would significantly improve your score.
