Dear friend,

I hope you are doing well in your life and carrer. I am glad to share with you that i am planning a buisness trip to your city in next month. Since it has quite been a long time to see you, i am also planning to meet you. I will be there for 7 working days and my buisness hours would be from 9 am to 5 pm. So, could you suggest me some nice places in or around the city for sightseeing and fun or adventurous activities which i can cover simultaneously with my buisness trip.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points required in the task prompt: you explain the purpose of the business trip, ask for recommendations for sightseeing and activities, and invite your friend to join you. However, some areas are under-developed. For instance, the details regarding your schedule and the specific kind of activities you are looking for lack expansion. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response is slightly below the minimum word count of 150 words. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that every bullet point is fully expanded with more specific details and context, while strictly adhering to the minimum word limit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear sequence of ideas, moving logically from the greeting and purpose of the visit to your requests and the final invitation. Paragraphing is used, though the letter would benefit from a clearer division of ideas into distinct paragraphs to enhance progression. Cohesive devices such as 'Since' and 'So' are used, but referencing is occasionally a bit mechanical. To achieve a higher score, you should demonstrate a more natural and flexible use of cohesive ties and structure your letter into well-defined paragraphs for introduction, details, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your general meaning, and you make some attempts at less common phrasing such as 'simultaneously' and 'adventurous activities'. However, there are notable spelling errors, such as 'carrer' instead of career, 'buisness' instead of business, 'avaible' instead of available, and 'Septembet' instead of September. There are also minor word choice inaccuracies like 'quite been a long time to see you'. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they do prevent you from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional and subordinate clauses successfully. There are some grammar and punctuation errors present, such as capitalization issues ('i'), missing articles ('in next month', 'by flight'), and awkward phrasing like 'could you suggest me'. Fortunately, these errors are infrequent and rarely impede communication. To move up to the next band, you should aim for a higher proportion of error-free sentences, pay closer attention to prepositions and articles, and ensure consistent capitalization and punctuation control throughout the text.
