Overall4.0

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally, achieving a score at this level. While the letter touches on the purpose of the trip and mentions sightseeing and activities, the response falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum requirement, containing only 93 words. Furthermore, the ideas are severely underdeveloped; for example, the explanation of the business trip is confusing and contradictory, stating both that you have a free time plan for a business trip and that 'we are planing a business trip' to the island. To reach a higher level, you must fully develop all bullet points with clear details and ensure you meet the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently in this response. The text lacks logical organisation and clear progression, moving abruptly between thoughts without adequate cohesive devices. Sentences are disjointed, and the lack of proper paragraphing makes the letter difficult to follow. For instance, the transition from explaining the business trip to asking about tourist places and arranging games happens without clear links. To improve, you need to group related ideas into clear paragraphs and use basic cohesive devices such as conjunctions and transition words to connect your sentences smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent errors that strain the reader. You rely on simple words and make numerous spelling and word-choice mistakes throughout the text, such as 'latter' instead of letter, 'aeseon' instead of a reason, 'deside' instead of decide, 'toriest' instead of tourist, 'neer' instead of near, and 'intertanment' instead of entertainment. There is little evidence of less common lexical items. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your vocabulary range, use appropriate collocations, and carefully check your spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that often distort meaning. There are basic punctuation and capitalization issues throughout the response, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('i hope', 'today a write', 'plase write'). Verb tenses and forms are also inaccurate, as seen in 'today a write a latter', 'we took a trip', and 'we arrange some funny game'. Simple sentence structures predominate, and attempts at more complex phrases fail. To improve your grammar, focus on correct sentence boundaries, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and accurate verb tense usage.
