Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the situation, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited by the language used. The explanation of why it bothers you is clear, but the suggestion for the landlord is vague, as you do not specify what action you want them to take (e.g., assigning spots or issuing warnings). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord, though the clarity of the message is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. To improve, ensure your suggestions are concrete and actionable.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into two paragraphs, which is acceptable for a short task. There is a logical progression from the problem to the impact and finally the request. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'So that'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I tell this colleagues many time but he is not understand my talk', where the connection between the neighbor and the landlord's intervention could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main message but is quite basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choice, such as 'my back parking is not free' (meaning 'available') and 'fitting me' (likely meaning 'fighting with me' or 'arguing'). The use of 'rant' instead of 'rent' is a significant spelling error that affects the professional tone. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring correct spelling of common terms related to housing and daily life.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction. Examples include 'every people get to back yard car parking' (incorrect subject-verb agreement and word order) and 'my job start afternoon time' (missing verb tense/preposition). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors requires the reader to work harder to interpret the intended message. Focusing on basic sentence structure and verb tense consistency will help improve your accuracy.
