Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear landlord,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to you regarding the problem of parking that i am suffering from. Whenever i reached at the apartment, i never found any parking lot free.
I want to explain you that i am paying for parking in the rent too and when i did not find any empty parking, it make me feel upset and i have to park my car at street.
I would like to suggest you to make more parking lots for tenants those who are paying for it and it would be easy for parking our vehicles at authorized sites rather than at streets and getting tickets.
Please let me know if you need additional information regarding this from me . I look forward for your response.
Sincerely,
Jasman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the situation, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The explanation of why the situation is bothersome is brief, and the suggestion for a solution is somewhat vague. To improve, you should expand on the consequences of the parking issue—such as the stress of searching for a spot after a long shift or the financial burden of potential parking tickets—and provide more specific, actionable suggestions for the landlord, such as assigning parking spots or installing a gate system.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the introduction of the problem to the impact and finally the proposed solution. Paragraphing is present, though the paragraphs are quite short. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Whenever' and 'Therefore' (implied), but the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical. For example, the shift between the problem and the suggestion could be smoother with better linking phrases. The overall progression is clear, but the limited length prevents a more sophisticated flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'problem', 'parking lot', and 'upset'. While these are accurate, they do not demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary. There are some minor collocation issues, such as 'reached at the apartment' (should be 'reached the apartment' or 'arrived at the apartment') and 'make me feel upset' (better as 'causes me significant frustration'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise language related to property management and personal inconvenience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include tense inconsistency ('Whenever i reached' should be 'Whenever I reach'), article usage ('at street' should be 'on the street'), and subject-verb agreement ('it make me feel' should be 'it makes me feel'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on consistent verb tenses and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your score.
