Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points: describing the situation, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. However, the development of these points is quite limited, and the letter is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement. The ideas are presented in a very basic manner, and the conclusion is incomplete, trailing off at the end. Because the length requirement was not met and the development of ideas is insufficient to fully explore the situation, the response falls into the lower band range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks a clear paragraph structure, which is essential for a formal letter. While there is a basic attempt to sequence ideas, the transition between sentences is often abrupt or confusing. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'and' and 'the'. The lack of logical progression and the failure to use appropriate paragraphing make the text difficult to follow at times. To improve, you should group related ideas into distinct paragraphs and use linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'however' to connect your thoughts more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You rely on simple words like 'problem', 'place', and 'cars' throughout the text. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'stack in this problems' (stuck with this problem) and 'no one inch of place is empty'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express your ideas with precision or variety. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations related to housing and parking, and try to use more descriptive adjectives and precise nouns to convey your message clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with verb tenses ('I work in office', 'All the cars have already park'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper subject-verb agreement. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. The errors are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and occasionally impede the clarity of your message. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your verbs are correctly conjugated and that you are using articles and prepositions accurately.
