Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear landlord,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to discuss some issues related to parking in a building. From last month, I noticed that when I came from my work I hardly find a parking spot in the evening. Also, I observed many people park their cars who are not living in this apartment.
It bother to me because I park my car in a shopping center. Moreover, I already pay for my car parking but last week I got ticket from parking enforcement. It create a stress on mind.
If you could register all car numbers and allow cars who pay parking fees. I really appreciate if you could solve the problem or you can allocate particular parking for all payers.
I hope you understand my concern.
If you could look carefully this problem I appreciate it.
I look forward to your prompt response.
Yours faithfully,
Dhara

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points: describing the parking situation, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why it bothers you could be more detailed to better convey the frustration of the situation. While the task requirements are met, the response lacks the depth of development required for a higher band score. The ideas are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or a clearer explanation of the consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'If you could'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from describing the problem to the impact could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could benefit from a more sophisticated range of linking words to improve the logical progression of your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'parking enforcement', 'allocate', and 'prompt response'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'It bother to me' (should be 'It bothers me') and 'create a stress on mind' (should be 'causes me stress'). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and common English collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'From last month' (should be 'Since last month'), 'I hardly find' (should be 'I can hardly find'), and 'allow cars who pay' (should be 'allow cars whose owners pay'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, the frequency of these slips limits your score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and verb tenses would be beneficial.
