Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: the situation is described, the impact is explained, and a solution is proposed. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the impact of the parking issue is mentioned briefly, and the suggestions are quite simple. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detail, such as explaining the specific inconvenience caused by parking outside or elaborating on how a parking permit system might work. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the reader is left in no doubt about the nature of the problem.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical sections, moving from the problem to the impact and finally to the proposed solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the frequent use of 'Many times' and 'And' at the start of sentences makes the flow feel a bit disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the problem description and the suggestion could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in light of this' would help to improve the logical flow and overall coherence of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary like 'parking lot', 'vehicles', and 'neighborhood'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'landlord owner' (redundant) and 'damaging my car' (should be 'damage my car'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on simple, everyday language. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terms related to property management or formal complaints, and ensure that your word choices are consistently accurate to avoid minor errors that slightly distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with verb tenses and articles, such as 'I could not found' (should be 'find') and 'the a parking lot'. Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'related the parking space' (should be 'related to'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. Focusing on basic grammatical rules, particularly verb forms and article usage, will significantly improve your score.
