Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Richa,

I would like to bring your attention to the issue regarding parking space.

I am having a parking space issue from 3 weeks, when I get home from work, there is no empty space for my car to park at the back. I had to park outside the building which makes problem for pedestrians because I have Suv and that covers a lot of space. Also, poses a risk of heavy fines.

This issue bothers me a lot becuase I am paying my rent accordingly. In other words, my rent covers parking space as well not just amall apartmnet. Also, I am leaving here from 2 years. I have never got that poblem before.

I would like you to suggest that you should provide tickets to all car owners which they can tag to their cars. By doing this you can ensure whether the car parked is from your buildung or not.

I request you to solve this issue promptly.

Lokking forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,

Jasleen

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: describing the parking situation, explaining why it is a problem, and suggesting a solution. Your tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though they could be developed slightly more to reach a higher band. For example, you could elaborate on the specific times you return home or the specific impact of the fines. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Also' and 'In other words' to link ideas. However, the use of 'Also' is repetitive and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words like 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', or 'As a result' to improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'amall apartmnet' (small apartment), 'poblem' (problem), and 'Lokking' (Looking). While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to housing and parking, such as 'designated parking', 'unauthorized vehicles', or 'enforcement measures'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am having a parking space issue from 3 weeks' (should be 'for 3 weeks'), 'makes problem' (should be 'causes a problem'), and 'I am leaving here from 2 years' (should be 'have been living here for 2 years'). These errors are frequent but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. Focusing on verb tenses and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
