Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the situation, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The explanation of the problem is somewhat repetitive, and the suggested solution (checking surveillance) is underdeveloped. Because the response fails to meet the length requirement, the development of the task is insufficient to reach a higher band. To improve, you should expand on the impact of the parking issue and provide a more detailed, polite proposal for the landlord to consider.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition 'Moreover' is used, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed due to grammatical errors. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this emerge problems'. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and sometimes inaccurate, which hinders the professional tone required for a formal letter. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'regard the matter' (should be 'regarding'), 'my occupy parking space' (should be 'my assigned parking space'), and 'emerge problems' (should be 'emerging problems'). The spelling of 'surivillances' is also incorrect. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to housing and formal correspondence, and proofread your work to ensure words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('whose park their car'), missing articles ('in parking lot'), and sentence structure (run-on sentences and fragments). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and the use of articles. Additionally, ensure that you are using punctuation correctly to separate distinct ideas, as the current lack of proper punctuation makes the text difficult to read.
