Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hello sir,
I am writing this letter to inform you regarding lack of parking spot which delays me to go home.
I am living in 103 apartment, and in an agreement I got allocated a parking space, but from the last few days someone is parking on that spot. Because of that, I am reaching late to my home and that affects my sleep and my dinner schedule.
Moreover, I would also like to add few more points. Firstly,I am sleeping late, and because of that my work is getting disturb. And, major important things is that, I have to eat medicine after getting dinner and that have some particular time frame. Additionally, in upcoming time winter is coming so it would be not easy for me to do this struggle.
However, can you please look into it and inform that man to part at different spot. And if you not then, i want my refund. Or else, please allocate me new parking.
Yours sincerely,
Harsh Parmar.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the situation is described, the impact is explained, and a solution is proposed. However, the tone is inconsistent and occasionally inappropriate for a formal letter to a landlord (e.g., 'inform that man' and the ultimatum 'if you not then, i want my refund'). The development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the impact on sleep and health. To reach a higher band, ensure the tone remains professional and polite throughout, and avoid making aggressive demands that might be considered unrealistic in a formal request.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally misused, such as 'Moreover, I would also like to add few more points' and 'And, major important things is that'. The transition between the description of the problem and the proposed solution is abrupt. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'delays me to go home' and 'my work is getting disturb'. The word choice is often simplistic, and there are minor errors in collocation, such as 'part at different spot' instead of 'park in a different spot'. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and formal vocabulary suitable for a business-like request.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'in an agreement I got allocated', 'that have some particular time frame', and 'in upcoming time winter is coming'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
