Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Landlord,
I hope this letter finds you well! I am writing to express my concern regarding the shortage of parking spaces behind our apartment.
I have been living at this apartment from last 2 years and recently facing problem to park a vehicle particularly when return to home from work in the evening. I believe most of the vehicle park in the space are unauthorised and occupied by visitors.
This problem bother me everyday because I have to find parking for my vehicle on street far away from my apartment. After parking, I have to walk for a long distance to reach at home which is more frustating after a whole working day, particularly when I have groceries or other stuff to carry with me.
I would suggest you to work closely on this concern. If possible try to allocate a parking stall to each of the tenant who have a vehicle and mark it as a reserved parking. Moreover, unauthorised vehicle needs to be completely prohibited and a separate parking for the visitors can be arrange so that the guest will park there car at marked parking instead of using tenant stall.
I hope you will closely addressed this issue with suggested solution. Looking forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Prarthana.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the parking situation, explain the personal impact of the problem, and provide constructive suggestions for the landlord. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. The ideas are well-developed, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, ensure that your suggestions are slightly more refined in their phrasing to avoid minor grammatical slips that occasionally distract from the clarity of your proposal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'If possible' to link your ideas. However, the transition between sentences could be smoother in some places. For example, the connection between the problem and the suggested solution could be strengthened with more varied linking words to improve the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'unauthorised', 'prohibited', and 'allocate'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it is somewhat functional. There are some minor word-choice errors, such as 'frustating' (spelling) and 'stuff' (which is a bit informal for this context). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid overly casual language. Using more sophisticated synonyms for common words would help elevate your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'from last 2 years' (should be 'for the last two years'), 'most of the vehicle park' (should be 'vehicles parked'), and 'guest will park there car' (should be 'their cars'). These errors are frequent enough to prevent a higher score but do not impede communication. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
