Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear mr.Joshi,
I am writing this to complain about the difficulty that I have been facing for months. I suffured a lot to park my two wheeler in our parking area.
As I am working in company as manager so I required to work late at night I comeback home around 1.00 pm very often. When I came back home there was no space in the parking area. Parking has enough area still there was the problem because other memmbers of our apartment park their vehicles not properly .
Because of all this I required to park my bike in front of my house and sometimes on the road which bothered other people but I have no option. There is also risk of thefts or police fines.
I would really appreciate if you talk about this to secretory of our apartment and ask to organize society meeting. Make strict rules in regards of parking mennars and enforce fine who break the rules. So we can tackle the situation.
I am look forward to your response.
kind regards
Kajal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the parking situation, explaining why it is problematic, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that other residents park improperly, you could have provided more specific details to make your argument more persuasive. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the reader understands the situation and your requested actions. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more descriptive language and logical flow.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some basic cohesive devices, such as 'Because of all this' and 'As I am working', to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. Some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the jump between the parking problem and the request for a meeting. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between your points would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'parking area', 'vehicles', and 'thefts'. However, there are several spelling errors ('suffured', 'memmbers', 'secretory', 'mennars') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'parking mennars' and 'I required to work'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and practicing collocations related to formal complaints.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'I required to work' instead of 'I am required to work' and 'I am look forward to' instead of 'I am looking forward to'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, specifically regarding the use of commas and the capitalization of 'mr.Joshi'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency would be beneficial.
