Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the parking situation is described, the impact is explained, and a solution is proposed. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks clarity in places. For example, the explanation of why it bothers you is fragmented across several paragraphs, and the tone is inconsistent, shifting between formal and informal. While the task requirements are met, the ideas could be more effectively structured and elaborated to reach a higher band. The purpose of the letter is clear, but the expression of the situation is hindered by language errors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the use of 'Firstly' followed by 'However' in the same sentence, which does not logically connect the ideas. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, particularly when referring back to the parking issues. While there is an overall attempt at organization, the lack of smooth transitions between sentences and paragraphs limits the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'parking' and 'problem'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'I am doing my job whole day' and 'the signification problem'. Some words are misused, such as 'waring' (warning) and 'shiffted' (shifted). The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles to use more precise or academic language appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations and more varied synonyms for common nouns and verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with verb tense consistency (e.g., 'I didn't get' instead of 'I don't get'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex structures, such as 'I also pay the bill of parking lot and still I have no space to card park'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
