Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. Dhillon,
I am writing to explain about parking lot as I live in small apartment but I did not find any empty space to park my car in the parking area which really bothers me.
I am already tired whenever I came from my work then I did not find any space to park my car in the parking lot so I have to park my car somewhere at street parking and had to pay external fee for parking.
It is really hard for me to find a parking somewhere else while I live n your apartment and paying the rent including parking but did not find space to park my car.
I recommend you to kindly take my conern seriously and get a more parking space or you should gave a limit to other rentals that one car per apartment which also helpful. I hope you understand my situation and solve it as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Prabh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the parking situation, explaining the negative impact, and suggesting solutions. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why it bothers you is repetitive, focusing primarily on the inconvenience and cost without exploring the frustration in greater depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the consequences of this issue, such as the impact on your daily routine or safety concerns when parking on the street at night. The suggestions provided are relevant, but could be more detailed to show a clearer sense of purpose.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the problem to the impact and finally to the proposed solutions. Paragraphing is used, though the transitions between ideas are somewhat mechanical. For example, the use of 'It is really hard for me' and 'I recommend you' provides a basic framework, but the flow between sentences could be improved with more varied cohesive devices. Some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the parking issue and the financial burden. Using more sophisticated linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would help improve the overall flow and coherence of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'really bothers me', 'really hard', and 'solve it'. While these communicate your meaning clearly, they do not demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'get a more parking space' instead of 'provide more parking spaces' and 'gave a limit' instead of 'impose a limit'. To improve, try to incorporate more specific collocations related to property management and parking issues to show a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'whenever I came from my work' (should be 'come') and 'I did not find' (should be 'cannot find'). Additionally, there are errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'somewhere at street parking' and 'get a more parking space'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on consistent tense usage and correct article placement would significantly improve your score.
