Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I hope you are doing well. As you know I am leaving in your apartment for the last 6 month. I am much satisfied. The apartment is comfortable and come place. The advantage of this apartment is nearby of my workplace. So I am glad to living here. I would like to bring an issue to your attention that I am facing parking issues as parking is backside of the apartment and often this is full of vehicles when i back from the office. It's really bothering me.
Actually there are many cars which placed randomly not in organised way. That's why everyone facing parking problem. That's not a big issue if we take some steps to avoid this type of rushing.
According to my opinion, we should arrange a meeting of whole residents living in the apartment and should discuss some manageable steps such as if we can hire a peon or guard to guide about the parking and make parking in organised way. Then everyone can use parking accordingly.
I hope you will understand the situation and do something for solve the problem.
Thanks in advance

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: describing the situation, explaining why it is a problem, and suggesting a solution. Your tone is appropriate for a letter to a landlord, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To improve, you could provide more specific detail about the 'parking issues'—for example, mentioning how often you are forced to park elsewhere or the specific impact on your daily routine. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat brief. Expanding slightly on the consequences of the current situation would help you move into a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to the problem and finally to the proposed solution. You use paragraphing to separate these ideas, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition 'That's why' and 'According to my opinion' are functional but could be more varied. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in light of this') would improve the flow and connectivity between your sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'residents', 'organised', and 'workplace'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'come place' (likely meant 'comfortable place'), 'leaving in your apartment' (should be 'living'), and 'when i back from the office' (should be 'when I return'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring your word forms are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('there are many cars which placed'), incorrect verb tenses ('I am leaving' instead of 'I have been living'), and missing articles or prepositions ('discuss some manageable steps'). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your point, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency would significantly improve your accuracy.
