Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this to express my dissatisfaction in regards with the parking situation in the apartment I live. I would like to request your assistance in resolving this situation at your earliest.
I have been living in this aparetment since 2024 and so far I have not seen this parking issue ever before. From last 3 to 4 months parking a car is becoming frustrating. In addition, I am wondering that though we have 60 spot capacity of parking available in back still it is always full every night. The reason why it is keep bothering me always is even though I pay my parking fees regularly I can not park my car which is unfair. On top of that I have to park in neighbourhood's open area which is not safe at all.
I would like to request a strong regular inspection on our appartment which can assist you to catch the real cause of the problem. Furthermore, I would really appreciate it if you could implement a fine for outsiders who park without legal permission and payment. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via cell phone. My cell number is [redacted phone].
Yours Faithfully,
Foram P.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the parking situation, explain the personal impact—specifically the frustration and safety concerns—and provide actionable suggestions for the landlord. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader understands the gravity of the issue. To reach a higher band, ensure that all parts of the prompt are addressed with equal depth; for instance, you could have elaborated slightly more on the specific impact of the parking shortage on your daily routine.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. Each paragraph has a central focus, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'Furthermore,' and 'On top of that' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a coherent response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message clearly. Phrases like 'express my dissatisfaction' and 'implement a fine' are appropriate for the context. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'in regards with' (should be 'in regard to') and 'neighbourhood's open area' (which sounds slightly unnatural). Additionally, there are a few spelling errors, such as 'aparetment'. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common words. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the letter, such as 'I have not seen this parking issue ever before' (awkward phrasing), 'From last 3 to 4 months' (should be 'For the last...'), and 'The reason why it is keep bothering me' (incorrect verb form). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and tense consistency.
