Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: describing the situation, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. The points are mentioned but not extended or supported with sufficient detail. To reach a higher band, you must expand on your ideas, providing more context about your daily routine or the specific nature of the parking difficulties to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a fuller development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks proper structure, such as an appropriate opening and closing, and is written as a single, run-on paragraph. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly; the text relies on simple conjunctions like 'and' and 'so'. The progression of ideas is basic, and the lack of paragraphing makes the letter feel disjointed. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each section of the letter and incorporate a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition') to connect your sentences more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'problem', 'annoying', and 'time'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'going back from work' instead of 'returning from work' and 'that was tired' instead of 'it is tiring'. The range is insufficient to express ideas with precision or variety. You should aim to use more specific vocabulary related to housing and parking issues to demonstrate a broader lexical range and improve the professional tone of your correspondence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including punctuation issues (lack of capital letters for 'I'), run-on sentences, and incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'this situation become annoying'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, as most sentences are simple or poorly connected. The errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on using more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to add variety and accuracy.
