Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all three parts of the prompt. The student describes the parking situation in the back lot, explains why it bothers them by mentioning safety concerns with street parking and the frustration of long waits, and suggests a solution by asking the landlord to take strict action regarding tenants parking more than one car. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the ideas are relevant, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0. However, the development of ideas is slightly constrained by the overall length and repetitive phrasing. Because all prompt bullet points are addressed with a clear position and practical suggestions, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as a single block of text which affects the visual structure and flow. While there are some cohesive devices used such as 'Therefore', 'then also', and 'if', their usage is often awkward or repetitive ('then also' appears multiple times). The sequencing of ideas moves from the problem to the explanation and finally to the suggestion, providing a coherent overall arrangement, but the lack of clear paragraph breaks and mechanical use of linking words pulls the cohesion down. Therefore, this section aligns best with Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but it contains frequent spelling and word choice errors, such as 'does'nt' instead of doesn't, 'whn' instead of when, 'moring' instead of morning, 'tentants' instead of tenants, 'slove' instead of solve, and 'vechle' instead of vehicle. The student attempts less common vocabulary ('strict action', 'rules and regulations', 'safe and secure'), but these are undermined by basic lexical and spelling inaccuracies that occasionally impede communication. This performance fits the Band 5.0 descriptors well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it suffers from severe run-on sentences and a lack of proper punctuation. For instance, the main body is essentially one massive, unpunctuated sentence joined by commas and conjunctions ('...when I came back from work to home. Therefore, other tentants park there 2 cars in the as per rules...'). Grammatical errors, missing verbs, and incorrect punctuation are frequent and disrupt the flow of reading, making it difficult to find error-free sentences. Consequently, this warrants a band score of 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on the attempt at complex structures.
