Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear landlord,
I am writing this letter regarding the difficulty am facing to find an empty parking space, especially in the evening when I travel back from my work.
I have recently brought a new car to travel to my workplace, as it was a more convenient option for me during monsoon. However, the parking space is not alotted according to the flat number. As a result, every time in the evening when I drive back from work I have to find a parking spot for me. Moreover, sometimes I don't get a parking spot for my car because there are more number of vehicles present.
After a tiring day, it makes it difficult for me to everytime search for a spot and also, I am not comfortable parking my new car outside the building. I would request you to connect with the society member and ask them to allote a particular spot. I am ready to pay extra amount on the monthly basis for the parking.
I hope you'll be able ro resolve this issue as soon as possible, looking forward to your response.
Yours sincerly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt in a General Training letter format. You clearly describe the situation regarding the parking lot behind the apartment building, explain why it bothers you, specifically mentioning your tiredness after work and your discomfort leaving a new car outside, and suggest a clear solution involving assigned parking spots and an extra monthly fee. The tone is appropriate for a landlord. Ideas are well developed and directly address the requirements of the task. Because the prompt's instructions are fully satisfied, this meets the criteria for a solid band 7.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear logical organization and progression throughout. You have used appropriate paragraphing to separate your introduction, the description of the problem, the personal impact and solution, and your sign-off. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'As a result', and 'Moreover' are used reasonably well to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing throughout the text is generally clear, allowing the reader to follow your points easily without confusion. Overall, this demonstrates effective control over coherence and cohesion, fitting the band 7.0 descriptor well.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary with some attempts at less common phrasing, such as 'convenient option', 'tiring day', and 'resolve this issue'. However, there are some noticeable vocabulary and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'am facing' instead of 'I am facing', 'brought' instead of 'bought' (as you are acquiring a new car), 'alotted' instead of 'allotted', and 'everytime' used incorrectly as an adverb. Despite these errors, the lexical range is adequate for the task and does not impede communication, placing it comfortably in the band 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional ideas and subordinate clauses ('as it was a more convenient option for me during monsoon'). There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb issues ('difficulty am facing'), spelling mistakes in verb forms ('allote' instead of 'allot', 'ro' instead of 'to'), and awkward phrasing like 'more number of vehicles'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors occur, they rarely impede overall communication. This performance aligns well with the band 6.0 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
