Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear SIR,
I am writting about an issue of parking space which i am suffering from few some weeks .
When i come back from my work , there is no space left for parking for my car. Few people parked their vehicle in an unappropriate manner which become very uncomfortable for me to park my vehicle. Some time i try to make sapce for my car but it is not parcticle possible.
Mostly it makes me very disturbed due to unethical behaviour of other tenets. My workplace is far away from the residence and i am already get very tired till reached home and after seeing this makes me very disturbed.
I would like if you could take some necessary actions against this parking issue. You can do numbering at each spot of parking , so everyone knows thier parking place. Additionally you should told to everyone to park thier vehicle at thier own place otherwise you will charge some fine.
I hope you will take strict action as soon as possible
Yours faithfully
Dinesh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. First, the parking situation in the apartment building is clearly described, noting that the parking space is occupied upon returning home and that vehicles are parked inappropriately. Second, the writer explains why this is bothersome, mentioning the frustration caused by unethical tenant behaviour and extreme fatigue after a long workday. Finally, practical suggestions are provided, including numbering the spots and introducing fines. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord, and all parts of the prompt are fully addressed. The ideas are relevant and adequately developed throughout the response, meeting all the requirements for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a generally clear overall arrangement, separating different ideas into logical paragraphs. The greeting and sign-off are included, though the opening 'Dear SIR,' has unconventional capitalization. The progression of ideas flows reasonably well from describing the problem to explaining the impact and offering solutions. However, paragraphing could be structured more cleanly, and cohesive devices are somewhat basic or occasionally mechanical ('When i come back', 'Some time i try', 'Additionally you should'). Reference words like 'this' and 'their' are sometimes slightly imprecise or misspelled, which impacts the smooth flow of the text. Overall, the organization is sufficient to ensure the message remains clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the intended meaning despite noticeable errors. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'unethical behaviour' and 'unappropriate' (though misspelled). There are several spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'writting', 'sapce', 'parcticle', 'tenets' instead of tenants, and 'thier'. While these lexical errors occur frequently, they do not impede communication, as the reader can easily understand the points being made. The range is minimally sufficient to discuss the everyday parking issue, reflecting the descriptors for Band 5.5 to 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'When i come back from my work , there is no space left for parking for my car.' However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including incorrect verb tenses ('i am writting', 'i am already get very tired till reached home'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('it is not parcticle possible'). Punctuation errors are also present, such as spaces placed before commas. Although these errors are noticeable and require some effort from the reader, they do not completely obscure the meaning of the letter. The grammatical control aligns best with a Band 5.5 descriptor.
