Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points required in the prompt: you describe the parking situation, explain how it bothers you by mentioning the police tickets, and suggest a solution involving talking to the neighbours. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the description of the problem and its consequences are clear, the suggestion to the landlord is somewhat basic and lacks detail. To move to a higher level, you could expand further on your proposed solution by suggesting specific actions the landlord could take, such as assigning designated parking spaces or putting up warning signs in the apartment parking lot.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement, and the purpose of your communication is clear from the beginning. You have attempted to divide your text into paragraphs, which helps structure the letter. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'due which' and 'in result of this' are used incorrectly or awkwardly to connect your ideas. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in sentences like 'due which i always park'. To improve, you need to use a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure logical links between sentences are formed naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrate an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating your message about the parking issue with words like 'situation', 'apartment', and 'problem'. You also attempt some less common vocabulary, but this is accompanied by some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'flour' instead of 'floor', 'thier' instead of 'their', and 'driway' instead of 'driveway'. Additionally, phrasal collocations need more precision, such as writing 'look forward to hearimg' instead of 'hearing'. These spelling and word-choice errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as when you combine clauses using relative pronouns like 'due to which'. There are several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including missing capitalisation for proper nouns and the pronoun 'I', tense inconsistencies such as 'from few days ago i am facing', and missing articles like 'in front of the apartment'. Although these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication. For a higher score, you need to increase your control over basic grammatical structures, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation.
