Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how time is spent, and extending an invitation. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For example, the description of the house and the activities could be more descriptive to fully engage the reader. While the task requirements are met, the response lacks the depth of detail that would elevate it to a higher band. The structure is clear, and the purpose of the letter is immediately apparent to the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is a clear opening and closing. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition between sentences in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. The use of referencing (e.g., 'the house which I rented') is generally clear, but some sentences feel disconnected. Improving the variety of linking words would help the flow of the letter significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple descriptors like 'good', 'big', and 'small'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'fully loaded with features' (better: 'well-equipped') and 'near to the nature' (better: 'close to nature'). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, preventing a higher score. Incorporating more descriptive adjectives and idiomatic expressions would enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. You have several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('my new rented house which are placed' should be 'is placed') and article usage ('the sunset of the place' should be 'the sunset at this place'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around question marks and commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and punctuation would be very beneficial.
